Diknimol-SP is formulated with three medications, namely diclofenac potassium, paracetamol, and serratiopeptidase. Diclofenac and paracetamol work by inhibiting the action of cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes, which produce other chemical prostaglandins (PG). These prostaglandins are produced at injury sites and cause pain, swelling, and fever. By blocking the COX enzyme’s effect, fewer PGs are produced, which reduces mild to moderate pain, inflammation, and fever. On the other hand, Serratiopeptidase is a bacterial protein enzyme found in the silkworm that acts as a mucolytic (dissolves thick proteins at the injured or affected site) and anti-inflammatory agent, thereby decreasing swelling at the painful site.

Diknimol-MR is a combination of three medications, namely diclofenac, paracetamol, and chlorzoxazone. It is used in the reduction of musculoskeletal pain due to tissue injury, the resolution of post-surgery inflammation, and the treatment of oedema (swollen tissue with fluid). Diclofenac inhibits cyclo-oxygenase (COX), a chemical messenger that induces pain and edema at the location of damaged or injured tissue. Diclofenac’s ability to relieve pain is enhanced by the modest analgesic (mild pain reducer) and antipyretic (fever reducer) effects of paracetamol. Chlorzoxazone, the third medication, is a muscle relaxant. It aids by preventing nerve impulses or pain signals sent by the brain and inducing muscle relaxation.
