Flutiron-AZ nasal spray is formulated with two medications fluticasone furoate and azelastine hydrochloride, which is used to treat allergic symptoms in the nose. Fluticasone furoate is a member of the group of corticosteroids that affect nasal lining cells internally. It prevents the release of specific chemicals in the body that trigger inflammatory responses. Azelastine hydrochloride is a member of the class of antihistamines (anti-allergic medications) that inhibit the activity of histamine, the chemical that causes allergic reactions. The combined formula of these two compounds eases the symptoms of sneezing, runny or congested noses, and sinus discomfort.
